My interests are in the quantitative side of psychometrics across the main domains of health, educational and occupational research.
Currently, I am employed as Lead Psychometrician in the Cabinet Office, UK Government. My work involves improving the validity of tools used to assess potential recruits across the civil service as part of the Occupational Psychology Profession.
I am Senior Associate Psychometrician for Inspired Health Outcomes Ltd., which specialisies in health questionnaires: Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs) and Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs).
Most of my work is commercially sensitive, but a published example of my work is this critique of the psychometric validity of a high profile PROM for long Covid in the BMJ with Prof Alan Tennant.
I am currently finalising a new textbook with Prof G L Jones (Professor of Health Psychology at Leeds Beckett University) to teach psychometric methods to new research practitioners using R, SPSS and Mplus. Planned publication end 2024 with Taylor & Francis.
